Week 1, My Class introduction (2 the top):
”
Hello my name is Ryan and I’m extremely into the game programming field. The catch is, I haven’t done a lot of it. Most of my programming experience is with Web, script and application development. I’m glad to finally learn the ways the game programming through UAT. Why? I found it easier to teach myself programming in general, compared to game programming. I choose this course because it’s automatically assigned. I know, it sounds like I had no choice; Well I did because I over viewed the curriculum before I even applied to the college. The courses related to the degree I’m working towards are what I want to learn and perform. I have programmed before and started out with QBASIC during the years of DOS. After that, I spent a good amount of time in JAVA, HTML, a little of C and moderate C#. I’m not an expert in any of those fields because I have never taken a legitimate programming class before. I’m self taught so far and even though I’m knowledgeable, I have learned some difficult code without knowing the basics. So here I am, starting over again, beginning with the basics.
Outside of school I’m always working on my web sites, coding apps for personal use, gaming, developing maps and levels. I love to build PC’s and have years of tech support under my belt. I love spending all of my free time with my daughter and wife. So the only time I have for my technology life is at night and scattered through the time with my family. All I do is technology and family! Ultimately, I’m aiming for a PHD in artificial life/gaming-engineering (programming of course). Years ago, I started off my career with hardware because I wanted a thorough understating of what I’ll be creating code for.
My expectations of this course is to learn some of the most basic and beginner steps of programming in general. With a good foundation, I can learn to develop excellent programs efficiently and in a timely manor. What do I expect of the instructor? A LOT and especially his personal dedication, to at least make me feel that I’m in an interactive class.
By the way everyone, I’m up for anything at any time. If there are any projects I can help with, let me know! Or even if you want to go head to head for a ½ hour in a death match round….” (Bridglal, 1)
